Our Company
Engineering that solves real problems - and builds real engineers
At DTCE, we don’t train calculators.
We train consultants, the kind who can talk to a builder on-site in the morning, solve a tricky design problem after lunch, and walk a homeowner through their options without breaking into a sweat.
We’re a Wellington-based structural and geotechnical consultancy working on the kinds of projects that actually matter to people: homes, alterations, tricky seismic retrofits, and the occasional head-scratcher that needs a bit of creativity.
If you’re curious, sociable, and want to grow into an engineer who’s trusted for more than just their equations, you’ll fit right in here.
Why Join Us
What we stand for - and how it shapes your career
Real responsibility, early

You'll work on the full lifecycle of projects: Quoting, design, clients, sites, budgets - not just a tiny slice. Seniors get autonomy; juniors get genuine responsibility with support
Approachable Leadership

Our seniors sit with the team, answer questions, and back you on tough client calls. No hierarchy fog. No closed doors. Just people working together.
Flexible, paid for what you work

Hybrid work as a normal expectation. You’re paid hourly for the hours you work. Manage your own time, deliver your projects, and keep your life in balance.
Broad, varied engineering

Structural, seismic, temporary works, light geotech, residential, alterations, tricky retrofits. No pigeonholing, no boredom, and no “you’re only allowed to do beams for two years."
A team-first culture

We’re small enough that everyone helps each other out — and big enough to share the load. If something needs doing, we do it together. Ideas get implemented, not buried.
Clear development progression

From small projects in year one to complex consulting roles in year three or four, with support toward CPEng, CPD time in-office, and a bonus system that rewards repeat clients and efficient delivery.
Interns & Grads
Start your career off right
Fresh graduates join us each year and start developing real consulting skills from day one.
You’ll learn how buildings behave, how clients think, and how to be the engineer people ask for by name.
And as you grow, your mentoring shifts into CPEng preparation, supported by four CPEng directors who’ve walked that path many times. We’re looking for graduates who are curious, personable, and keen to learn, not just the ones who topped every exam.
Year 1
Run Small projects, meet clients, solve practical problems, grow confidence
Year 2
Handle more complex designs, more challenging client conversations, and more ownership
Year 3-4
A fully rounded consultant: Technical, financial, client-facing, and ready for your CPEng pathway
CPEng
Full support from your own CPEng mentor to achieve the certification
