Issue
The existing rooftop balustrade did not meet current safety requirements. The building also needed safe access for exterior cleaning and maintenance.

Scope
A compliant replacement balustrade and new roof anchors for abseiling and ongoing building maintenance.

Solution
DTCE assessed the existing concrete structure and designed the new aluminium balustrade, including its supports and connections. We also designed roof anchors suitable for safe maintenance access.

The design was updated when site measurements identified a greater distance between the finished floor and the supporting concrete slab than originally expected.

Outcome
The building now has compliant edge protection and a safer system for future exterior maintenance. The balustrade layout was also refined to reduce the number of supports and connections required.
