DTCE has been engaged to design a new timber pole retaining wall to prevent any soil loading on the existing block wall. During our site investigation, we confirmed that the retained material consisted of weathered greywacke, a dense, hard sedimentary rock commonly found in Wellington. That meant the design needed to carefully account for ground pressures and long-term performance.

We engineered the new retaining wall to suit these site-specific ground conditions and to safely manage additional loads from the adjacent timber deck and foundations above.
