Actions required

CLIENT

  • Explains the scope and details of the project, as well as the reason the work needs to be done

  • Engages an Architect, Geotech Engineer and other consultants if Applicable

  • Starts searching for a builder for the project, making sure the builder is a Licensed Building Practitioner and suitably qualified for the project.

DTCE

  • Consults with the client and architect to determine the engineering scope.

CLIENT

  • Provides up-to-date documentation including Drawings, Photos and other documents. This will be used by DTCE to produce documentation for the project.

DTCE

  • Initial site visit if allowed for in the scope to gather necessary information and to reconfirm the scope of the structural engineering.

  • Provides a site note with a summary of the site visit.

DTCE

  • Prepares and signs a Fee Proposal.

CLIENT

  • Provides access to the property.

  • Instructs DTCE members before access to the property.

  • Informs tenants (if applicable)

CLIENT

  • Countersigns a Fee Proposal approving the scope, fees and timing.

DTCE

  • Requests an additional documents and information related to the project.

  • Develops concept design documents

  • Sends updates to the Client on a regular timeframe about the project.

CLIENT

  • Reviews the concept design documents.

  • Discuss the provided documents with other other consultants if applicable

  • Sends DTCE mark ups or clarification notes.

(if the initial scope and/or graphical documents have been changed, then a variation of DTCE Fees might be needed)

CLIENT

  • Answers questions from DTCE as they arise

  • Informs DTCE of any changes.

DTCE

  • Once design is close to completion, DTCE will share the developed documents with the client and architect for review

  • Discuss the provided documents with other consultants if applicable. (Architect, Geotech Engineer, etc.)

DTCE

  • Provides the client with a full set of documents suitable for Building Consent Application.

Clients get documents suitable for Building Consent:

  • Calculation Bundle,

  • Design Report,

  • PS1

  • Drawing Set,

  • Construction monitoring recommendations.

CLIENT

  • Applies for Building Consent or engages an agent to do so.

DTCE

  • Responds to any possible Request For Information (RFI) from an external reviewer and the Building Consent Authority.

CLIENT

  • Receives Building Consent documentation from the Building Consent Authority.

  • Informs DTCE about receiving Building Consent and provides Service Record Number (SR) or Building Consent Number.

  • Keep the stamped drawings on site during construction.
