MULTI-STOREY APARTMENT BUILDING

DTCE was engaged to complete an earthquake damage assessment and a detailed seismic assessment for this 14-storey concrete building, built in the 1960s. The results of the Detailed Seismic Assessment (DSA) were disputed by another structural engineer, DTCE cooperated with an Engineering NZ Facilitation to discuss the DSA. Through discussions, the other engineer agreed with our report and changed their result. A modal analysis was completed using ETABS software to show the severe torsional effects on the seismic resisting elements. This analysis was crucial in identifying potential weaknesses and devising tailored solutions to enhance the building's overall seismic performance.
